Whatman™ polyethersulfone (PES) membrane filters are hydrophilic and stable in alkaline pH, making them suitable for biological samples and aqueous applications.
• Low protein binding minimizes nonspecific protein adsorption
• Hydrophilic membrane suitable for aqueous applications, especially in alkaline pH
• Smooth surface for easy enumeration of microorganisms
PES membranes for tissue culture
Tissue culture applications often require a sterile membrane that exhibits low protein binding, which allows for an approximation of in vivo conditions under which the cells would normally be found. Low protein binding PES membranes with low levels of extractables are appropriate for tissue culture applications after they are sterilized.
Enumeration of microorganisms
PES membrane filters provide a smooth membrane to retain and enumerate microorganisms on the filter surface. The white surface allows easy counting of dark bacteria and artifacts in a variety of microbiology studies.
